Children Looking for Mentors!
"My mentor makes me feel special...and I like that I can talk to someone who really cares."
If making a difference in the life of one child is where God is leading you, please plan to attend the free Guiding Promising Students (GPS) Mentor Training at the FBISD Admin Bldg. on 16431 Lexington (click on the link below).
Mentoring involves meeting with one student once a week for the school year. Time with your student can be spent reading, tutoring, playing games or just talking. You can mentor right across the street at First Colony Middle School where nearly 13% financially struggle or any school you prefer. GPS Mentoring is definitely a win-win activity with the mentor getting as much or more from the visits with a student as the student does.
In addition to helping students, recognizing the teachers for what they do is much appreciated by the teachers. This could be done by any small group and can be as simple as writing and delivering short notes to providing snacks for teachers and staff.
